Background

A graduate of MSU, Bozeman, Angie McDunn has 20 years experience working with dogs and has made the study of canine behavior a lifetime endeavor. It was during college that she began her pursuit of understanding more about canine behavior. Her first competition dog was an extremely high drive, dominant, male Rottweiler. She gained knowledge and experience working with him.

Angie joined Big Sky Rottweiler Rescue in January 1998. Working with rescued Rottweilers, attending seminars, and hands on work with dogs at shelters/rescue groups throughout Montana has helped her develop the skills and background to successfully evaluate and/or rehabilitate dogs. Angie & her husband helped developed a training program at their local shelter that resulted in a multitude of dogs with behavior problems being adopted to forever homes.

Angie's focus has now come full circle to help the average pet owner keep or acquire a safe, well-behaved family member. She has written and published articles on topics ranging from how to identify dominance behaviors to how to pick the right dog for your family. Angie's evaluation methods have evolved over the years becoming more in depth & her training philosophy promotes establishing a proper relationship between the dog and owner/handler to achieve maximum results.

Angie has developed a class that discusses training in general, establishing a proper relationship between the dog and handler to achieve maximum results and where she works hands on with select dogs that attendees have been asked to bring to the class.

Obedience Training

Basic and advanced obedience training designed to establish and promote a proper relationship between you and your dog. Our methods are fast, effective and easy to learn. Because our techniques utilize your dogs natural drives and instincts, your dog will learn commands faster and easier than with other less behavior-oriented methods. Our approach also helps your dog respond, respect and bond to you more readily.

Behavior Modification

Our approach to behavior modification makes finding solutions to your dogs problems a priority. No rationalizations. No excuses. We approach your dogs problem by examining the stimulus and its cause, and then adjusting our training accordingly. Because our approach to obedience training emphasizes nurturing a proper relationship between dog and owner, many clients have found that behavior problems often disappear when training begins.

However, some dogs require specific attention. We specialize in eliminating:

Handler aggression
